How I Approach Funerals
Always, where possible, I like to contact the family, relations,or family representative for a wee chat, basically to “break-the-ice” (shall we say) and to discuss the Funeral Service in regards to what tunes to play and in the order for them to be played.
As a rule I have always arrived at All Funeral Service Venues 1 hour before start time just in case the music arrangements or service plans have changed.
NOTE
I am very experienced and sensitive to what may be a very sad occasion.
I will always listen and honor specific requirements and aim to give your loved one the best possible tribute I can.
Some popular tunes for funerals and remembrance days are listed below.
Most are well known traditional tunes with wonderful melodies, sometimes haunting, often uplifting.
The piper will seek to play the most appropriate combination based on the personal wishes of the family.
Bagpipes and Organ Combined can be quite effective
Talk to your Funeral Directors about this.
It is also very effective to have the piper march away with the sound of the bagpipes fading in the distance.
