My Own Order of Service In most cases (preferred) I will have contacted the deceased's family well in advance of the funeral service (unless otherwise requested) to discuss the various musical pieces to be played at the funeral service.
I, generally as a rule arrive at the funeral service venue about 45-60 minutes before the service starts. This is time for me to tune my pipes, meet the family members and catch up with the Funeral Directors about any details about the service that I should know about.
I do actually sit and listen to the whole service to see if I can detect any hint of other tunes that I may possibly play at the service unless otherwise requested.
